Ironman Lake Placid is part of the Vinfast Ironman North America Series of triathlon events. It is a challenging course that pushes competitors to perform at their best while enjoying the beautiful scenery around Lake Placid, New York.
The Ironman Lake Placid course starts with a 2.4-mile swim across Mirror Lake, which has a temperature range of 60 to 70 degrees Farenheit. Competitors enter the lake in groups, on a rolling basis, through a controlled access point. Athletes are grouped based on their ages. Once in the water, they are required to do two laps in the lake within 140 minutes.
After the swim comes the bike course. This course stretches 112 miles through the Adirondack Mountains. The course starts and ends at an elevation of 1,818 feet. The highest elevation on the course is about 2,200 feet and the lowest is just below 550 feet.
The last part of Ironman Lake Placid is a 26.2-mile run through Olympic Village and along the shores of Mirror Lake. The two-loop running course will also have athletes running through the city center, to the joy of cheering crowds, before finishing on a flat and fast track at Olympic Oval. This course starts and ends at an elevation of 1,850 feet. The highest elevation is over 1,913 feet and the lowest about 1,703 feet.
